MEMBERS’ PHOTOGRAPHS

Because we have had to cancel our summer events as a result of the coronavirus lockdown, we have invited members to share photos taken in their gardens or as they walk local footpaths, month by month.   Each monthly selection chosen by the committee is shown here.

GARDEN SNAPSHOTS

We invited members to write a paragraph about their gardens or gardening experiences this year:  something grown; garden wildlife, or a story about something that has happened in the garden.  The contributions have been collated into a document and sent to members.  Here is a copy of Garden Snapshots.

CANCELLED EVENTS

We are sorry to announce that the Club’s visit to Worcester College on 10th July has been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Sadly we have also had to cancel our Autumn Show and the visit to the Courts Garden and Iford Manor as well as the Autumn Social.

TOUR OF SOUTH WALES GARDENS

Travel Editions have rearranged this for the week beginning 21st June 2021.  There are now a small number of places available.

AGM

Our AGM was successfully held in Cumnor Village Hall, Monday 2nd March 2020.  There was a very good audience to hear Dr Hazel Roberts speak about “Growing Food Not Gluts” beforehand.

2020 PROGRAMME

Our new programme is now published, see Programme page.  Please note the cancellations.

GARDEN CENTRE DISCOUNTS

Club members have in the past received discounts at various local garden centres and nurseries, which we hope will continue: Yarnton Home and Garden, Freeland Nurseries and Burford Garden Centre.  Following a recent talk by the owner, we have also been offered membership of Preston Bissett Nurseries.  Yarnton now offer free Yarnton in the Garden events.

OTHER GARDENING CLUBS etc

Appleton & Eaton Gardening Club has a series of on-line talks via Zoom until in-person meetings as possible.  Cumnor members are invited to join them.  The first is on 14th October at 7.30 pm by Jonathan Ford entitled Four Local Gardens – some thoughts on Design.
