Radcot House July 2022

Radcot House is a splendid old stone house set in three acres of beautifully planted garden rooms. There is a walled garden, pool room, reading room, beech avenue, long pond, pavilion area, with many mature ornamental and fruiting trees and shrubs.

We visited the garden on a glorious summer evening. First, we were welcomed by the owners, who explained the history of the garden and their vision for the planting. After enjoying delicious refreshments, we wandered around the garden watching the shadows lengthen and the colours change in the evening light. We found the garden was best viewed from one of the many lovely seats and enjoyed the various sculptural surprises.

Those of us who visited Radcot in 2014 were particularly interested to see how the garden had been developed to give a stronger sense of unity and flow from one area to another.
